We start with a space sky filled with some 500 stars and finish with perhaps 30 on each pass. We were able to create the illusion that the Enterprise was racing through space at an incredible speed. We tracked the space sky to the left, to the right, to the top and to the bottom, using a different black-out matte on each pass and superimposed these various moves at different speeds. The space sky was photographed and a still frame used on the optical printer. Superimposing them created the effect of 3-D movement, nearer stars moving faster than more distant ones. It is capable of making a 5-to-1 reduction through a 4-to-1 enlargement with continued automatic focusing. So basically they both photographed multiple starscape layers which were moving at different speeds relative to the camera. The advanced Oxberry printer was unique at the time. The images were composited in Photoshop to create a photographed-at-midnight look. The next one Id like to get is the Texture one. I use Star Effects and Glow on many of my images. But I tend to be a layering queen so this is not an issue.
TOPAZ STAR EFFECTS MOVING STARS SERIES
We then made a series of black-out mattes that we could use later with the sky in the optical printer. Topaz star effects is actually the most useful- for me, but you must be prepared to layer to get the stars where you want them. Observed with the unaided eye under a spotlight, it had a visible eight-rayed star effect. This transparent oval cabochon weighed 271.76 ct and measured 43.98 × 32.16 mm and 19.12 mm high.
It was cut and sold by a gem setter in Ho Chi Minh City. To make the space sky, we painted black stars on a white background about 2 1/2 feet by 3 feet, arriving at a suitable design. In 2020, we purchased a star topaz, reported to be from Lam Dong, Vietnam (figure 1). The principal elements in our solution are a space sky and the use of an Oxberry optical printer. We experimented with dozens of ideas before we hit on an effective solution. The solution did not come easily or quickly.
Other space shows have shown spacecraft more or less "drifting" through space. Seeing stars is common and is included as a. Illusions of bright light, sparks, or various colors may appear. One of our most difficult assignments for the series was to create the impression that the Enterprise was racing through space at an incredible speed-faster than the speed of light, which is 6,000,000,000,000 miles a year. Seeing stars happens when pressure is applied to your eye while your eyes are closed.
